Microsoft 365 Updates for the Week of June 22nd Heads-up WolfPack, new SharePoint reports are coming. Read on for all the details! New Feature: Money in Excel Microsoft has introduced a new Excel template to help families manage their finances called Money in Excel. This template is available to Microsoft 365 Personal and Family customers. Money in Excel is a dynamic, smart template and add-in for Excel that allows you to securely connect your bank, credit card, investment, and loan accounts to Excel and automatically import your transaction and account information into an Excel spreadsheet. Simply go to this link to download the template. Once downloaded, open the Excel template and follow the on-screen prompts to connect your financial accounts using a secure third-party plugin supported by Plaid (Plaid currently supports most major U.S. financial institutions). Once your account information is verified, the workbook will be updated with your latest transaction history and is now ready for use. Let’s take a look at Money In Excel in action. New Feature: PowerPoint Live Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that Live Presentations was coming soon, and now it is generally available on PowerPoint for the web. With PowerPoint Live, Everyone in the audience is able to connect from their device (laptop, tablet, or phone) where they can follow along with the presentation, and they can also move back through the slides at their own pace without impacting the presenter. The audience can also provide instant feedback to the presenter in the form of live reactions—and provide comments and rate the presentation at the end. After the live session, audience members can provide feedback to the presenter, via an optional survey powered by Microsoft Forms, so the presenter can receive responses and recommendations on how to improve their presentation skills. New Teams Feature: Inline Chat message translation for iOS Inline chat message translation lets users translate Teams mobile chat messages into the language they choose. This feature is rolling out first for iOS with Android coming soon. When using the Teams mobile iOS app, users who receive a chat message in another language can choose to translate that chat message into the language the have set in Settings > General > Translation To translate a chat message, press-and-hold the message to see the translation option. This feature is not enabled automatically. Administrators will need to: Enable this setting using the Set-CsTeamsMessagingPolicy cmdlet. -AllowUserTranslation Determines whether a user is allowed to translate messages to their client languages. Set this to TRUE to allow. Set this to FALSE to prohibit. The policy takes a few minutes to apply.Users may need to sign out and sign back in to Teams In the Microsoft Teams admin center, select Messaging Policies from the left navigation, then either create a new policy or edit an existing policy, and set the Allow users to translate messages option to On. The updated iOS app will be released to the store in late June 2020 Microsoft Teams – improvements in meetings experience for the Safari browser Microsoft is introducing improvements to the browser-based meetings experience for those who join Teams meetings with Safari browsers on Mac. Users will no longer be required to use Audio Conferencing to dial into the meeting for audio needs, but rather, can use their device to speak and listen. As was prior, participants can continue to view meeting content being shared in their browser. We are also introducing group call functionality. Once this change has rolled out users will be to join all Teams meetings in the Safari browser with Audio and incoming Screen Sharing. Additionally, for group calls, users will be able to start group call, accept group call notification and group call nudge, join group call from chat header, Hold and Unhold group call states, and screen sharing in group call. This applies to Safari 13.1 and newer on MacOS. New Feature: Conditional Access public preview for Office 365 suite Conditional Access for Office 365, which allows admins to assign a single consistent policy across all Office 365 apps, is now available in public preview. We expect this feature to move into general availability the second half of July. To enable Conditional Access for Office 365: Go to Azure Active Directory portal to configure a Conditional Policy When making the app assignment, select Office 365 (preview) as shown below. PIC After you set up your policy, try running in report-only mode. Using Conditional Access report-only mode will let you review the impact the policy will have before you enable it for your users. Acronym answers are now available with Microsoft Search in SharePoint Microsoft is bringing acronym answers with Microsoft Search to SharePoint Online. Users often run into unfamiliar acronyms and abbreviations used by their organization or team. Terms that are specific to organizations or teams might be new to people who move from one team to another, those who work with internal partner teams, or are new to the organization. Acronym answers allow Microsoft Search Administrators and Editors to create definitions for commonly used acronyms in the organization where individuals can then discover the meaning of acronyms via Microsoft Search. Acronym answers were previously limited to Microsoft Search with Bing and now in SharePoint Online. Administrators need to populate and manage Acronym answers in Microsoft Search Awareness of Microsoft 365 Temporary Feature Adjustment - Update: OneDrive Customers who use OneDrive Files On-Demand and choose to "display items by using large thumbnails" in Windows Explorer or Mac Finder will see generic icons instead of thumbnails for a subset of file types, such as PDF and video files. Photo file thumbnails (jpeg, jpg, png, etc) are not affected by this change.
