Microsoft 365 Updates for the Week of March 30th

WolfPack, this week, there are have been some interesting developments for Office Microsoft 365.

Poll feature Added to Outlook:
Users will no longer have to download the Quick Poll add-in from the Microsoft Store and manually install it in Outlook.
  • The rollout for Outlook on the web will begin in April and is scheduled to be complete by the end of May
  • The rollout for Outlook for Windows and MacOS has been delayed.  Stay tuned for an updated schedule.
Here is a description on how you will use the feature in Outlook:
Outlook for Mac, Outlook for Windows, and Outlook on the web (desktop) users will soon be able to create a poll within Outlook without needing to find-and-install an add-in.
  • For Outlook for Mac, users will find Poll on the Message tab. After a user pins the add-in, it will appear under the contextual toolbar.
  • For Outlook on the web, when users create a new email message, they can access the add-in under "…" > Poll.
  • For Outlook for Windows, users can access Poll either via Insert tab > Poll or via Options> Use Voting Buttons> Poll.


Microsoft Teams Limits Increased:
Microsoft will soon increase the Microsoft Team membership limit to 10 thousand members.
First release customers can look for this new feature at the end of April and all customers can expect to see this new limit by the end of May.

Microsoft is also increasing the limit for Live Events Hosted with Microsoft 365. 
Beginning April 1, customers, through July 1, Microsoft will enable custom events for as many as 100,000 attendees from inside or outside your organization through their live events assistance program.
  • Teams Meetings for up to 250 participants
  • Live events for up to 10,000 attendees hosted in Teams and Yammer
  • Live events for up to 100,000 attendees hosted in a customized event experience using Microsoft Stream
  • On-demand recordings for unlimited numbers of viewers so anyone who could not participate during the live event, doesn’t miss out.

Teams – Slack Calling:
April 1, Slack is rolling out a beta of the Microsoft Teams Calls app for Slack. The Slack group-collaboration platform already is integrated with a number of Microsoft Office services, including Outlook, OneDrive and SharePoint.  The beta of the new Microsoft Teams app is avaiable here.
 

 
New Feature: Polls and Checklists in Teams:
Microsoft is adding yet another feature to Teams, Polls and Checklists.  These feature work in all versions of Teams (Web, Desktop, and Mobile).
Users will be able to easily access and install these new features by clicking on “…” at the bottom of the Teams composition box and then selecting the Poll or Checklist.

After adding the Poll or Checklist, users will access the at the bottom of the Teams composition box in both chat and channels.
First Release customers will begin seeing suggestions for Polls or Checklists as they become available. Note: The desktop and mobile versions may not be discoverable at the same time.
  • With Checklist, an end user can collaborate within a team by creating a shared checklist so that everyone can see at a glance what has and has not been done. Teammates will be able to check-off items and save their changes from the chat view. As people in the group or channel respond, everyone will see the updates as they are saved.
  • With Poll, users can create a real-time poll from within a chat or a Teams channel. As people in the group or channel vote, everyone will see updates on the poll card.
Administrators can control the availability of this feature from the Teams Admin Center à Teams apps à Manage apps.
