Office 365 Updates for the Week of August 12th
Outlook for Android updates for the Samsung ecosystem: Other than Apple, Samsung is the other major ecosystem for phones and recently, Microsoft announced a renewed partnership with the tech giant. This new partnership will bring a deeper integration of Outlook for Android across all of Samsung’s devices. This will include:
- Outlook on Samsung Galaxy wearables – With your phone connected to your wearable, stay on top of email even when your phone is not in hand.
- Samsung Note S Pen support – Features such as being able to hover over and preview emails as well as take action such as tap to call, email or text contacts and Accept, accept Tentatively or Decline invitations
- Samsung DeX Station for PC - Outlook for Android can be displayed in separate windows on a larger screen
- Improved video compression – Reduce the size of video files when attaching them to messages for faster throughput
- POP3 support – Continued support for the protocol in Outlook for Android.
New way to join a Team: Microsoft has done many things to make Teams an enjoyable experience. Now they have introduced the ability to join a team using a code or link. For public teams, Team owners can send a user a link for that user to join. If the team is private, the link will send a request to join the team. Team owners can also generate a unique code. Owners will be able to share the code as many times as they wish. Any user (other than guest) can use the code. The owner can revoke the ode at any time.
New Teams Feature: Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business screen sharing interop. With this update, Teams Only users will be able to share their desktop with users in chat and or calls with Skype for Business users. This feature has also been expanded
