Office 365 Updates for the Week of October 28th

Channel Croll-Posting in Teams: This feature will allow users to publish a conversation to one of more channels. To do this:

  1. In the channel, select Format Format button in Teams under the box where you type your message.
  2. Select Post to multiple channels > Select channels.
  3. Choose the channels to post in or use search to find a channel. You can post wherever you're a member.
  4. Select Update. The To field updates and shows the channels to post in.
  5. Type your message and select Send. This posts your message to the selected channels.

Microsoft will be gradually rolling out this new feature beginning in late October.  For more information about this new feature click Here

 


Up Next Feature for Outlook Mobile: Coming to Outlook mobile is a feature that will surface information from your calendar to the top of your inbox.  This feature will be rolling out to Office 365 customers on a per-tenant basis.
Once your tenant has been updated, Outlook will begin surfacing information about what’s Up Next in your calendar to the top of your Inbox, 30 minutes before the start of the event.
If you have a commitment on your calendar (e.g., an event marked as ‘busy’ or a meeting you have ‘accepted’) Outlook will provide information about the event at a glance. Touch the new card banner to open the event details, or swipe to dismiss the Up Next card.
Later, Microsoft will add a quick action Join button if your event is a Teams online meeting.

 

RSVP Instantly in Outlook on the Web: A feature that is already available for Outlook Mobile is coming to Outlook on the Web (formerly known as OWA) is the ability to send a RSVP instantly.  Outlook on the Web will show an RSVP button in the message list, enabling you to respond without opening the meeting invitation.  After you click on RSVP, you will have the option to accept, decline, or tentatively accept. You will also see a mini calendar to check for conflicts.



Teams Guest Access Update: Teams is expanding guest support to support Google accounts
This is what Office 365 Administrators need to know. Azure AD is adding support for Google as an Identity Provider for B2B Guest scenarios (currently in Preview).
Guest users with a Gmail address can now use their Google account credentials to access your organization’s teams content if your IT department has enabled the feature in Azure AD.
Once enabled, new users who are invited to your tenant with a Gmail email address will be able to redeem the invitation and sign in to Teams without creating a personal Microsoft account. Guest users who try to sign in to Teams directly, instead of following a tenanted link, may be asked to first roundtrip a code to their Gmail address and then sign-in to your tenant with their Google account credentials.
There is no impact to existing Guest users who had already been invited to your organization with a Gmail and created a personal Microsoft account at the time.
There is also no impact if your organization has not enabled the Azure AD feature.
This feature will begin rollout to Teams customers in early November
