Pin Your Own Video in Teams Meetings

Pin Your Own Video in Teams Meetings

During a Microsoft Teams meeting, users can currently pin the video feed of other participants to increase the size of the desired video on their own screen. This makes it always visible even when others are speaking. Now, the company is planning to roll out a new feature that will help you to pin your own video on the stage in increased size.

Microsoft says the new feature will address a number of situations:

  1. No more overlaying of the Me video box and other participant’s video
  2. You will be able to see your own video on a bigger scale and adjust the video form
  3. You will have a better view of yourself when presenting an object or using sign language
  4. You will enjoy a balanced view of yourself and other participants – your video will be larger, and no longer transmit an impression of “less importance”
Pinning your video will of course only affect your view of the meeting and not anyone else’s.

Pin your own video by following these few simple steps:
  1. Go to the Me video menu – you can find it in the Me box, clicking on …;
  2. Select Pin for me. A pin next to your name appears and your video increases. If you no longer wish to be pinned, select Unpin for me.
  3. You can pin or unpin yourself when clicking on the menu next to your name in roster too.

The timing on when you can expect to see this new feature depends on what type of Microsoft 365 Tenant your account is a member of:
  • Standard: Microsoft will begin rolling this out in early January and expect to complete rollout in early February.
  • GCC: Microsoft will begin rolling this out in late January and expect to complete rollout end of February.
  • GCC-H: Microsoft will begin rolling this out in mid-February and expect to complete rollout end of March.
  • DoD: Microsoft will begin rolling this out end of February and expect to complete rollout mid-March.
