What does this mean for our customers who have 3PIP phones with Skype for Business (S4B)?

S4B customers who move to Teams can continue using their 3PIP phones with some functionality limitations until July 31st, 2023. After July 31st, 2023, Microsoft will no longer support 3PIP phones on Teams.  To avoid business interruption, these phones should be replaced with native Teams certified phones.

What are the benefits of a native Teams phone?

Some of the key benefits for customers will include contacts and calendar management, one-touch join for meetings, and voicemail transcriptions on the phones.  Along with these features, customers will be able deploy and manage their Teams phones through the Teams Admin Center.

Are there any implications for customers who remain on Skype for Business server?

Customers who have deployed Skype for Business server can continue to use 3PIP phones.  Microsoft will no longer be adding any new S4B certified devices.
